Movie Time with SOTP | Summer Special


In the first of our new series, “Movie Time with SOTP”, we bring you the upcoming family film releases in the U.A.E. and some of our favourite movies to watch with your children during this summer.

MINIONS
Target audience: Young children, tweens, teens, adults…the whole family!!!

Release date: July 18, 2015

Starring: Sandra Bullock as supervillan Scarlet Overkill, Jon Hamm as Herb Overkill, Pierre Coffin (the film’s co-director) as the minions Kevin, Bob, Stuart and all the minions and Geoffrey Rush as the narrator.

Synopsis: The movie focuses on the amazing and hilarious yellow creatures before they worked for Gru. After accidentally killing all their previous masters, the minions decide to isolate themselves in Antarctica. One of the minions, Kevin, elaborates a plan to find them a new leader. With the help of Stuart and Bob, Kevin embarks on an incredible journey that leads them to Scarlet Overkill, the world’s first female supervillain, and her inventor husband, Herb Overkill.

SOTP Wow Factor: What can be better than a Minion movie? Bars are set high for this animated feature film and we are expecting a lot of laughs and cuteness from these tiny creatures we all adore.



INSIDE OUT

Target audience: Young children and tweens

Release date: August 6, 2015

Starring: Amy Poehler as Joy, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Bill Hader as Fear, Lewis Black as Anger and Phyllis Smith as Sadness

Synopsis: Inside Out is told from the perspective of the emotions inside the mind of a young girl named Riley, whose family moves from the Midwest when her dad starts a new job in San Francisco. Riley’s emotions – Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness – live in Headquarters, the control center of her mind. When the emotions have conflicting ideas about the best way for Riley to transition into her new life, Joy – Riley’s most important emotion – does her best to keep things positive.

SOTP Wow Factor: This new animated film is said to be taking Pixar back to its very best, considering it to be one of the studio’s most daring and inventive movies up to date. We are hoping for a great deal of fun and excitement.



BIG HERO 6

Target Audience: Young children and tweens.

Synopsis: Robotics prodigy Hiro lives in the city of San Fransokyo. Next to his older brother, Tadashi, Hiro’s closest companion is Baymax, a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro into the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends, Go Go Tamago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred into a band of high-tech heroes.

SOTP Wow Factor: Big Hero 6 is an action packed comedy-adventure with all the heart and humor you can expect to find in a Disney movie. Looking like a big marshmallow, the loving robot Baymax will sure melt your heart.



PADDINGTON

Target Audience: Young children and tweens.

Starring: Nicole Kidman as Millicent, Julie Walters as Mrs. Bird, Hugh Bonneville as Mr. Brown and Ben Whishaw as Paddington.

Synopsis: Paddington tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. Finding himself lost and alone, he begins to realize that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family who read the label around his neck that says “Please look after this bear. Thank you,” and offer him a temporary haven. It looks as though his luck has changed until this rarest of bears catches the eye of a museum taxidermist.

SOTP Wow Factor: Based on the beloved novels by Michael Bond, Paddington is filled with charm and proves children’s films don’t need to be childish. You will want to cuddle Paddington forever. Plus, Nicole Kidman is a villain to die for.



HOME

Target audience: Young children and tweens

Starring: Jim Parsons as Oh, Rihanna as Tip, Jennifer Lopez as Lucy and Steve Martin as Captain Smek

Synopsis: When Oh, a loveable misfit from another planet, lands on Earth and finds himself on the run from his own people, he forms an unlikely friendship with an adventurous girl named Tip who is on a quest of her own. Through a series of comic adventures with Tip, Oh comes to understand that being different and making mistakes is all part of being human. And while he changes her planet and she changes his world, they discover the true meaning of the word HOME

SOTP Wow Factor:  A sweet tale of friendship full of cuteness and clever comedy,  HOME is a fun and great movie fit for any age



THE LEGO MOVIE

Target audience: Young children, tweens and teens

Starring: Chris Pratt as Emmet, Will Arnett as Batman, Will Ferrel as President Business, Morgan Freeman as Vitruvius and Elizabeth Banks as Lucy

Synopsis: Emmet, an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the Special — an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world. He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant’s plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly, and hilariously unprepared for such a task, but he’ll give it his all nonetheless.

SOTP Wow Factor: The Lego Movie is the first full-length, 3D computer animated Lego theatrical adventure. Hilarious and heartfelt in the right ways it’s such a fun movie to watch.



CINDERELLA

Target audience: Young children and tweens

Starring: Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine (the stepmother), Lilly James as Ella, Richard Madden as Prince Charming and Helena Boham-Carter as the Fairy Godmother
